Request: Remove Gauntlet b6 from server
I would very much like to see this abomination of a map removed from the 1.2 server.
Both as human and alien, it is not fun at all.
Aliens just push buttoms at random places, hoping that the humans just happen to be at the spot they're pushing, because you can't see them.
Unlike in deathrun, the traps in gauntlet are too fast to evade. You keep going and going and going, not seeing a single alien the entire time. The challenge of getting to the end is bitterly frustrating.
In the end, it is 25 minutes wasted. This is map offers no human-alien interaction beyond seeing messages that someone died. And even then, you might think it was you but it might just as well have been someone else. There's no way to know.
No scores, no way to directly encounter the aliens, traps that are all up to being lucky, no tactics, just sheer pure dumb luck.
It might be fun the first couple of times, but this map gets annoying fast.
I simply can not wrap my head around people playing this map as alien and claiming it is fun.
Aliens play in a long tube with a black void staring at them, plus a couple of buttons. That's it. You don't even know if it was actually your button press that cause the kill to appear in the logs.
As alien, you just stand there all the damn time. As human, you hope you're lucky because there's really nothing you can do.
This map is horrible and defeats the entire purpose of the game: interaction with the other team.
Please, remove this map from the server sothat it may never be played again.
Now that we have Deathrun, a map with a similar premise, but actual interaction, gauntlet has become an annoying relic with no real value.

That cvar won't remove anything. That cvar is for skybox, in menu it's called Options->System->GFX Software->Low quality sky
Btw this map is simple in 1.1. I don't know how's it in 1.2 gpp

Join aliens in gauntlet and try switching the r_fastsky on and off, the screens on aliens side will turn black when it's on. The name is missleading, it doesn't affect only sky.Loki wrote:That cvar won't remove anything. That cvar is for skybox, in menu it's called Options->System->GFX Software->Low quality sky

Gauntlet map got big TV screen implemented for alien traps to use. Its all logical. There is reaction from aliens. You think that they push radomly? Oh no. Try standing near blue forcefields... If you wait like 1 or 2 sec they will push it. Accident? No... command /SET R_FASTSKY 0 is only one that is making screen work(Though maybe There Are others, but im SURE that they are set correctly). This map is VERY hard, but there are few players that actually know how to solve all riddles inside.
The nodding of the head once to symbolize a greeting, cuz we white folk to damn lazy to open our mouths and speak up. Nods are also easier to shake off than a flase "hello".
"Person nods at you", or your direction, "you nod back"
