Complex structure

#1 Post by Quarko » Sun Sep 20, 2009 10:18 pm

Hi.
I was wondering, is it possible in Tremulous to create a structure that has non-box blocking area?
What I was thinking about was some [ structure. It should have the same form blocking area.
The idea is to make everyone able to build not only to top, but to bottom too.

For example, we could do this kind of bridge:

Code: Select all

                  ===]
_medi_ _medi_ ]
                         ]
_medi_ _medi_ ]
                  ===]

If I understand right, then no. All buildables must be boxes, and even more - that boxes cannot be rotated. You see only rotated models. Run your server with devmap, in console use /cg_drawbbox 1 and you will see.

It's Q3 limitation :-(

And could humans push to a built structure and rotate it but only the same way as builder when he's choosing how to build?
Humans are the only beings who were domesticated by themselves.

Hax the engine to make it support bbox rotations and complex collision models.
Also known as the invisible man.
