Breaking a contract is illegal, plain and simple. If Yalt breached a contract (I couldn't care less, honestly) then yes the content on that server is illegal.

There's plenty of illegal textures and sound files that come from proprietary licensed software in the map we were playing when you guys pulled your little stunt. And yes, if the Tremulous license states (I haven't read it) that you should release source code that is based upon it, then you are breaching contract by not doing so. You may not like to hear that, and I make no moral judgements about that (I don't care if Rota does it either), but these are the facts. It would be nice if you could simply acknowledge that and move on, rather than punishing people who just want to have a good time playing on the only populated server in the game with your pointless and unfounded scare tactics.

I have no problem with Yalt's mod, it's not my problem anyway and I just don't give a shit. I do have an issue with you using your admin privileges to remove me from the game for simply stating the truth. You guys virtually own 1.2, so if you feel like banning me then that's the end of it for me. I just think that's a deplorable use of the authority you have.

Nothing was signed, nothing was agreed so no contract. There is a licence document, and that lists various conditions which you must meet for it to be legal for you to distribute binaries.

Yalt is currently in breach; he and/or other admins are being idiots by taking action with extreme prejudice against those of us who point this out. That is foolish and runs the risk of further inflaming the situation.

In English law, as I understand it, this is a civil matter given that no profit is being made and, as such, legal action can be taken over this should any of the copyright holders choose to do so; but profit from it and (again, AIUI) it becomes a criminal matter.

I do not know the German laws on the matter, but I do not expect significant difference.

(Also, why am I suspecting that it'll never quite be ready for release…)
