The Granger Dance Mod
Just for fun, I made a simple Tremulous mod:
If a granger near an overmind taunts while in the air (i.e. in jump), the overmind is healed by some amount, or it's building is advanced by some amount.
Just imagine a group of grangers jumping and taunting near a building overmind ...
The modified sources are at github.
To see what has been changed, see the diff.
The compiled QVM is available here.
If you want to see it in action, tell me when I'm online and I'll show it on a private server.

Now do same to humans to balance this shit. Imagne humans jumping near rc, irritated by slow build or regen, and doing theirs "CMON!!!(Fuc***** RC!)"
The nodding of the head once to symbolize a greeting, cuz we white folk to damn lazy to open our mouths and speak up. Nods are also easier to shake off than a flase "hello".
"Person nods at you", or your direction, "you nod back"

Except humans run out of stamina soon. >.>
Medi-pad circles instead of rets around RC
Hmm, will 6 humans+regular heal+"taunt heal" counterbalance/make nearly useless alien attacks?
(Mara swipe?)
And human+jetpack?
Still in air, right? (unlimited "jump")
*troll face*

I agree, there is no need to compensate humans.
Still, I wanted it to be more a fun thing than something that shifts the balance. So I updated it a bit so that:
Still, I wanted it to be more a fun thing than something that shifts the balance. So I updated it a bit so that:
- The number of HPs healed can be set by a server variable g_alienGrangerDanceBonus. The following formula estimates the overmind build time for n grangers dancing: 1 / (1/30 + g_alienGrangerDanceBonus*n/1720).
- I've decreased the HP bonus to 11. This allows 5 grangers to build an overmind in ~15s (normally it's 30s), 10 grangers would build it in ~10s.
- Each granger participating in the dance gets its buildtimer set. This prevents aliens to quickly build OM and then immediately evolve and counterattack. The penalty depends on the health of the overmind when a granger joins the dance. So a granger starts helping to build/heal near-dead overmind, it gets 30s build timer. If it joins the dance when OM is 50%, it gets 15s build timer etc.

Yet a slightly different modification came to my mind, as the build timers seemed a bit arbitrary to me. What if instead of using build timers grangers would give their health to the OM? That would limit how much health one granger can contribute. And after (re)building an OM, grangers could evolve right away, but with low health, they'd have to regenerate. A booster would reduce this penalty, but I think still it wouldn't shift the game balance.
Opinions welcome.
