The dev release doesn't work on virtual PC. I have it too. Works great on another hard drive. Though, remember to install latest drivers.
Weird errors huh? Well, it's probably because Windows 8 Metro launches, and Metro has some kernel changes. Especially the arm thing, it IS in the kernel. Suggesting you try Other OS maybe, though it probably won't work either. Unfortunately the dev release actually still doesn't use the full Windows kernel also, they still must add the rest of the code, the dev release just has the finished Metro Kernel.

I've got the same issue.... Can't install Windows 8 on ANY virtual machine software (I tried three) and I'd rather keep Linux on my laptop...

I think it might be because of the 64-bit thing, I'm not sure but I think it doesn't support 64-Bit.
Anyway, just run it on another hard drive. Or run Linux in Virtual PC :D
GLaDOS, get an external hard drive :-)

First, what about Windows 2000? Also, you can resize them. RUN THE DESKTOP THING -.-
You just see some stupid streak of Microsoft's, what if it's broken? Maybe Windows 8 will be super. Also, have you used it? If you don't like Metro, just use the Desktop thing, everything can be run from there. The Desktop thing is like Windows 7. Metro is like WP7. So you got 2 in one = Windows 8. Also, most things run faster on it.

Hmm, possibly because Windows 8 isn't an ISO file...

Btw, Win8 will also be the first OS to support 128bit CPUs.

Quarko entered the thread with something that proves Windows 8 is innocent :-), GJ :-) Also, Windows 8 currently doesn't support Virtual Machines, possibly because of the kernel changes of Metro and because it requires an Intel CPU (Yeah, yeah, complain because Intel gets the dev release :-D ), and I think those emulate AMD CPU's or something (or emulate your CPU, but you probably have an AMD...)
Also, Windows 8 is really good to me, the dev release alone is something cool (though the dev release doesn't support ARM devices yet :( ), and Metro is really useful for multitasking, I don't have to minimize buggy things. It is really fast too, Trem runs really fast, and some Unreal Engine 3 games run fast too :-) , you must try it! :D
Windows ME isn't a good OS, as far as I know they created it to test and interface, not for public use (although I could be wrong, since the public got it, but as far as I know it was never a serious project by Microsoft...).

Meh, when I was a kid I really liked it more than Win98: ME had much prettier icons :(

In videos, when u install it, you select win 7. And i have Intel CPU, so its not cuz that.
