lol i can't stop laughing and yes i think computers are a waste of money. whether it being a laptop, desktop, or kindle. all of them waste almost the same amount of enegry at the end of the year.
Not sure about that last bit. Laptops use quite a bit less: desktop boxes can be a bit power-hungry, particularly CPU & GPU, and external monitors tend to use more than laptop display panels.
And ebook readers – different display technology. AIUI, power is only used there when changing the display content, and the rest of the hw is low-power too…
As for waste of money – depends…
and the more it gets smaller the more it gets money wise. for example check out the phones we have now. the guy who invented the moblie phone only thought of telephoning someone not to become a mini computer of itself.
Was always going to happen: marketing ("Be a good little consumer. You need this. Buy it." "Meh. Yes. Meh.") and we've got better at doing more with less power.
(Mine? Small QWERTY keyboard, more than a phone, but still significantly less than a tablet computer. I suppose that a good test is whether you can run Tremulous on it…)
i sirsly think the world is being over run by computers.
The computers disagree. They say that it's overrun by humans.
